We're racing into Valentine season, if the grocery stores are providing any indication. Valentine cards and candies have been on display since Christmas, I believe...maybe longer. If sweets are on your mind, my mother kept a ton of recipes for those. My favorite, though, have to be her bourbon balls (1 cup of bourbon!). They were so good that I haven't attempted to make them because I'm sure I'll fall short.
Give them a shot and let me know in the comments if you tried this recipe and how it worked out for you.
Bourbon Balls
1 Pkg. semisweet chocolate
3 Tbsp light corn syrup
1/4 Cup bourbon
1/2 Cup sugar
1 1/4 Cup crushed vanilla wafers (36)
1 Cup finely chopped pecans
1 Container (4 oz.) decorating chocolate pieces (sprinkles) or confectioners sugar.
Melt chocolate. Remove from heat. Blend in corn syrup and bourbon. Stir in sugar, vanilla wafers, and pecans. Roll by top into balls. Roll balls in chocolate sprinkles or confectioners sugar.
No baking! Besides the bourbon, that would be my main joy. Happy bourbon ball making!
